There is a Japanese movie set in this town. The Japanese made it for their 1986 film called The Silk Road.

i think some of the heritage sites in china are fake like the great wall. people say it was acutally rebuilt ten yrs ago.

  7. China is abudant of heritage sites! for those who love to visit heritage site, should visit Angkor Wat (Cambodia), Borobodur (Indonesia), Sukhothai & Ayuthaya (Thailand), Bagan (Myanmar), Taxila (Pakistan but unsafe now for foreigners).

  8. For those of you interested, I saw a documentary series on the Silk Road on TLC years ago. You should check it out on DVD. There was one episode dedicated to this area of China and the Mogao Caves. Very secluded, ancient and mysterious place, just one of many in China. I’m not Chinese but I’m fascinated by this beautiful and unique culture we have on this planet, they are so diverse, intelligent and prolific.
